Yikilo Organization for Peace, Reconstruction, and Development (Yikilo) was established in 1990 as an informal, membership-based group to address the urgent needs of displaced South Sudanese in Greater Khartoum, Sudan. Amidst the turmoil caused by the Second Sudanese Civil War, Yikilo’s founders believed in the power of collective action to drive positive change. The organization officially registered as a non-profit in 1995 in Sudan and later in South Sudan in 2012.
During its early years, Yikilo received support from notable figures and organizations, such as the late Dr. Professor Found N. Ibrahim of the University of Bayreuth, Klaus Frahm, Johannes Mayor, Gundter Heidt, and Dr. Purnima Chatapadayi. Contributions from Bread for the World also mobilized crucial resources for Yikilo’s initiatives.
Yikilo was registered with the Humanitarian Aid Commission in Sudan under registration number 2763 and with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) in South Sudan under number 859. The organization also holds a Tax Identification Number 100-383-764, issued by the South Sudan Ministry of Finance on December 12th, 2017.
Yikilo envisions a world where every human life is valued and where everyone receives the same level of care. Our aspiration is to build a global community that recognizes the intrinsic worth of every person, ensuring that no one is left behind.
